

Cover letters
There are some similarities and some differences between CVs and cover letters and it is important to understand these in order to write them well.
Funnily enough, not all companies read the cover letters they request, however you will never know which ones do and which ones don't!
Therefore whenever we send one, it has to be perfect, or else it could be the stage we are rejected at.
I have insider recruitment knowledge from my time as a head hunter in recruitment and in my current role as Careers Consultant at Imperial College London where I hear from employers regularly on recruitment processes.
Authentic writing
Due to my role at Imperial College London as a Careers Consultant, I have access to industry surveys, asking employers what type of technology they use in recruitment and at which stages. There are also results about what their opinions are on candidates using AI in their application and the interview process. This is very useful information that I can give you in our coaching sessions to help you decide the best way to incorporate AI in your approach, if at all.
A main complaint from employers is that people are losing their authentic voice in cover letters when so many people over rely on AI. Imagine receiving 5000 applications and they all sound pretty much like they've been written by the same person. This can be more detrimental for some industries and role types than others of course.
My support helps you to go from not quite being sure what to include in a cover letter, to confidently understanding how to create a strong structure, and how to write each separate section to the best standard. We would look at how to pick the examples you speak of, and how much detail is enough to include.
A cover letter is actually a great part of the application process to stand out as an individual, so that is an important element for us to consider as well as tips on how you can save time when writing multiple cover letters, without sacrificing quality.
